    Jones to Bow at Cannes

Stephen SchleicherBy Stephen SchleicherFebruary 29, 20082 Comments1 Min Read

indiana_jones_crystal_skull.jpgWord from Variety this morning has Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull making its world wide debut a few days earlier than expect at the Cannes Film Festival.  Fans who are also at the international film festival can check out the premiere on Sunday May 18, 2008, with pirated copies of the film hitting the streets soon after (yes, sarcasm). Official acceptance of the film into the festival won’t occur until April

Still, Paramount insiders are confident that as soon as fest programmers see the final print, the deal will be sealed for the studio to launch the summer tentpole on the granddaddy of all world stages. Director Spielberg, who is still editing and scoring the film, has not shown “Indy 4” to anyone yet.

If the trailer is any indication, this is going to be a hit on par with every other major movie released this summer.  Will it surpass Iron Man, Batman, and the Hulk? If I were to put my money on ranking the films – Batman will lead the list, Iron Man at number 2, with Indiana Jones and Hulk following close behind.

I strongly disagree in your ranking – although the Dark Knight is debatable as #1, Indiana Jones will be nothing short of #2 on your list primarily because the branding being so easily and readily known to the American public. Heck, you put out Indiana Jones and the Big Comfortable Chair and it would still take #1 in Independence Day weekend returns.

i disagree with both, i think iron man or indiani jones will be first or second. batman being third and hulk dead last.
