Looks like IDW has scrapped plans for a mini-series based on Edgar Rice Burroughs John Carter of Mars series. The news comes from artist Ted McKeever’s website:
Hey readers,
I’ll get right to the point.
The Princess of Mars project is now officially dead in the water. Two covers done, and the first half of the first issue completed, and word comes that IDW has decided it best not to continue with the project.
It has not been, needless to say, a very pleasant time for me. IDW has been totally gracious and forthcoming without all the legal mumbo jumbo , in telling me to halt all work, so I didn’t waste anymore time than I already had. Frustrating? Yeah. Creatively stunting? Definitely. Enough to cause me to fall apart completely? No friggin way.Yet another bump in the road, that has winded, and curved, and sometimes dropped out completely. But I never expected to be “comfortable”, hell, I never WANTED to be that. So, you dig in, you make your footing grounded and you move on.
2 more, of the 5 Zombie covers still to do. Another 5 issue series of covers for IDW that will be a total blast in a new direction of subject matter for me. A couple projects still in the waiting stages for possible, hopeful, approvals, and one big very cool bit of news that involves Eddy Current and Nun. If there’s anything I can say about that at present, it’s that if you’re at the San Diego Con this year, and happen to walk by a certain table, and think you heard or saw something about a . . . ah, dammit. I can’t say more, not now at least.
More in the next update.
Until then, have a good one, and stay sane.
T.
