Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is selling off his entire personal collection of TMNT stuffs. This isn’t a joke, you can head over to eBay right now and place a bid on everything.
The Turtles’ were catapulted into pop culture history in the 1990’s and their likenesses were licensed to a massive range of children’s merchandise; from Pez dispensers and skis to breakfast cereal, video games, school supplies, linens, towels, cameras, and even toy shaving and fishing kits. Since the very beginning Kevin has collected one of each item and now he’s offering this one of a kind ginormous collection of them to the ultimate green fan. Many of these boxes haven’t been opened in 20 years – just imagine the rare treasures inside!
But that’s not all! Kevin’s offering also includes an original Jim Henson’s Creature Shop made Leonardo costume from the first TMNT movie (1990), video tape archives of most of the original TMNT cartoons, and some original licensing artwork used in the creation of many of those wacky toys, merchandise, and comics.
All these goodies, spanning 25 years of archiving, have been protected and stored untouched in the turtles Northampton warehouse, and except for a few that show age appropriate wear and tear (like the movie costume) everything is sold as is.
These collectibles will be shipped anywhere in the United States by freight liner from Northampton, Massachusetts (home of the Turtles), and arrangements can be made for up to 250 (of the thousands) of the official TMNT contents to be signed by Kevin if the buyer would like. Each of the storage boxes has been signed (with a head sketch) by Kevin Eastman as proof of their authenticity and provenance.
The bidding starts at $50,000 and at least one person has already bid on the lot, however, the reserve has not been met, which means the selling price could be much higher. Man… I really wish I would win the PowerBall Jackpot this weekend.

Man this is awesome. I met Eastman a few years ago at NYCC and he was one of the coolest guys Ive ever met at a ‘con’. He was real passionate about his art (turtles included) and the fans, just a real stand up guy. Now Laird on the other hand, only seemed to be interested in the money I had in my fist. But hey…who am I to judge.
I’m just watching it in my e-bay account and seeing where this goes… Oh, I only wish. Also, to Dboy Mugg: All of my interactions with Peter Laird have been great. Dan Berger and Jim Lawson are really wonderful, too.
Yeah,I wouldnt say Laird was rude in any way, I just kinda got the feeling that he charged for EVERYthing. Which I understand is par for the course, but it just kinda felt more like a transaction than a “hey Id love to do this for you…fans are great!” Although, it could be my opinion, I seem to get that feeling from more than a few. Without mentioning names, some artists at the comic con this year (and previous years) looked and acted as if they would rather be anywhere else. Kevin Eastman was ONE of the many exceptions and you got the feeling he was fanboy just like everyone else.
This is one of those times I wish I actually had cash to blow on something more than essentials and a few minor entertainment items. TMNT was a big part of my youth and probably kept me “sane” with all the toys since I was at the end of and coming off my chemo at about the time the big craze hit, and while my mom wouldn’t let me go outside or play with other kids (low immune system) I had a lot of the toys and watched the cartoon, read the comics (both the “official” and Archie versions) and so on. Come High School, my mom’s idiot husband at the time tossed ALL of it when we moved…
Definitely one of those things I’ll always dream I could have gotten, like the TARDIS that was auctioned off earlier this year.
