We all love Science Fiction movies, and the Sci-Fi SyFy Channel does a bang up job with cranking out some of the strangest original sci-fi movies we’ve ever seen. Take Sharktopus and Gatoroid for example; a giant alligator and a shark-octopus hybrids. Champions both, showcasing the pinnacle of movie storytelling.
But it does bring up an interesting question; If Gatoroid and Sharktopus were put in a tank to fight it out to the death, who would win?

I have never seen either of these films, so on gut instinct go with Jaws’s deformed 2nd-cousin that he doesn’t talk about.
Technically it would depends on how strong the tentacles are, but my vote will always go for Sharktopus. It’s such a dumb and ridiculous concept it’s actually cool!
This hardly seems like a fair match: it’s basically 2 against one. Sharktopus for the win!
DAMN YOU SHARKTOPUS!!
I was gonna say that.
What isn’t clear by the picture is that Gatoriod is twenty times the size of a normal gator, I believe that sharktopus is normal size for a shark. Therefore, Gatoriod could eat shartopus in one bite.
Maaaan, Sharktapus got the speed and the finesse – aaaand he has a “pus” in his name!
Win all around.
speed and the finesse dosen’t do you any good if you are swimming in stomach acid. o_0 – ahhhhh, it burns . . .
When in doubt, go with the one with the tentacles
Goin with Grizzly Shark all the way. One of my favorite comics. The shark that swims in the woods!
Never saw either. Probably won’t unless I am denied Ludwig Van and get strapped into that same chair young Alex was forced into prior to his cure. What’s it going to be then, eh? (I’m siiiiiiiiiiinging in the rain, just siiiiiinging in the rain!)
I guess it will be a Two-Face toss and the sharktopus is scarred.
Gatoroid is merely an alligator on steroids. Sharktopus on the other hand is a genetically modified monster. There’s also the fact that while (according to the trailer) Sharktopus can come out of the water, this battle would probably be decided in the water and there Sharktopus’s agility and additional appendages would put him at an advantage. As Cheesedemon said “When in doubt, go with the one with the tentacles.”
Octopuses are one of the smartest creatures under the sea, and they transform. A mutant Octopus with shark powers would be nigh-invincible.
Can Sharktopus go on land? If not I would say the advantage goes to Gatoroid, as he can. Thus letting him escape and wait till the shark needs sleep.
The way I see it no matter who wins, we lose.
i have heard that fans of the hybrid monster series stitch together random stuffed animals & mail them in to syfy in the hope of inspiring the next epic atrocity. only one way to know if this is true, submit your own craft project & wait and see!
Don’t give give syfy ideas.
I agree with what Matthew said on the podcast. There should be a third choice: “Who gives a f%$k?”
Syfy has long since fallen into the same trap as book stores – lumping real science fiction in with fantasy, magic, monsters and vampire fiction like it’s all the same thing. Growing up in the 50’s and 60’s I saw enough terrible monster movies – ick flicks – to last a lifetime. You know, it’s funny, I took the local Borders manager to task for mixing fantasy, sci-fi, magic books, etc. into the sci-fi section. The excuse given was that these were all small genres, no large enough to have separate sections. I pointed out that they would take up the same amount of shelf space if they were segregated into fantasy shelves, sci-fi shelves, etc. and she looked at me like I was speaking Swahili instead of English.
Syfy needs to get back to its roots – sci fi. As in ray guns, space ships and boobies.
