Those who follow Kevin Smith – a lot of us at Major Spoilers do – know that Tusk is his latest thriller indie flick. The director took to Twitter on Thursday to announce the release date of the movie.

Tusk tells the tale of a journalist, played by Justin Long, who winds up as a playing for a deranged killer, played by Michael Parks, who was in Smith’s last film, Red State.
Those attending Smith’s Hall H presentation at the San Diego Comic Con will see the first trailer for the film.
“After all the interesting and exciting movie panels are over, Hall H belongs to a middle-aged man who once worked with BatFleck!” the description says. “Ask ComiKev questions and get ready to say #WalrusYes as Kev premieres the trailer to his first film in three years: the twisted, transformative tale of Tusk! Wrap up a busy Friday with the Clown Prince of Comic-Con!”
Smith and co-host Scott Mosier outlined the tale of Tusk while reading tales from a Canadian newspaper, which lead Smith to develop the script and get it in to production. While it looks like Clerks III is on hold, thanks to the Weistein Company, Smith is currently working on a holiday horror film, Krampus.

Definitely looks interesting enough to try to catch eventually.
Completely unrelated, the word “Tusk” has once again sparked my head replaying the song from the end of the MST3K episode where they watched “Werewolf”.
Pow-wow, the Indian boy, loved all the animals in the west
We will, we will, rock you!
TUSK!
So they ran through the briars, and they ran through the brambles, And they ran through the places where a rabbit wouldn’t go
Gypsies, tramps, and thieves! We heard it from the people of the town!
