Long a fan of the IX I am, but darned if I am not missing one issue out of my collection, and the trade paperback has been out of print for some time too. While I won’t be able to get my hands on the missing issue any time soon, I will be able to get a copy of the Aphrodite IX Trade Paperback that is being reissued with an all new covers by David Finch. IGN Entertainment and Top Cow have announced readers can now purchase download-to-own comic books via IGN’s Direct2Drive on-line service. The high resolution PDF file can be printed out, using your own paper and ink, or read on your computer. Top Cow plans to offer over 400 titles throughout the next year. Currently available are issues of Witchblade, The Darkness, Tomb Raider, and Rising Stars. Prices are not too bad, with most issues costing $1.99. Is it worth it? I tested the service out earlier today.

Top Cow has unveiled its The Darkness statue as the 10 year old character sees a resurgence with new books, games, and the First Born event this summer. “This statue was a blast to work on”, said sculptor Dave Cortes, “The character has a number of really cool dynamics that made for a unique sculpt. The flowing trench coat, the hair, the base with all those demons, it was a real thrill”. The 15-inch statue is limited to 1500 pieces with a retail price of $199.99. Top Cow let us know that all three Compendium edition trade paperbacks have completely sold out. The initial releases of Witchblade Compendium Volume 1, The Darkness Compendium Volume 1, and Tomb Raider Compendium were overprinted in anticipation of high sales, but now the titles have sold out, the company is going back to print. Each compendium collects 50 consecutive issues totalling 1248 pages. If that isn’t enough to get you interested in a title you’ve not read, the price isn’t too bad either – $59.99. via Top Cow (link)

This will be a ten page story featuring interviews with writer Alex Zamm and artist Jason Badower, and will include a character and creature design section.
