Scott Kurtz has posted infor about his appearance at the 2007 San Diego Comic Con.  We already posted info on who are honored guests, but Scott is taking it a step further and getting his own booth. We’re going to have our own booth (we won’t be set up with Image) and we are planning to make it our biggest splash in San Diego ever. We can spend more on the booth and stuff since we don’t have to worry about paying for airline tickets and hotel rooms. It’s a real honor and we’re very excited about next year. We’ve…

The San Diego Comic-Con website has been update with a list of the first wave of special guests that will appear at the show next summer.  Among them are Neil Gaiman, Adam Hughes, Scott Kurtz and more. Once again, Comic-Con is looking ahead to the coming year and special anniversaries to celebrate both in programming and our annual Souvenir Book. 2007 marks the 100th birthday of Hergé, the creator of Tintin, one of the most beloved comics characters in the world. It’s also the 25th anniversary of 2 indy comics stalwarts, Groo (created by Sergio Aragonés and aided and abetted…

Anthony Forgione had a great time at the Baltimore Convention, and was kind enough to let Major Spoilers post his report. He also has an Adam Hughes sketch for sale at his site. Take it away Anthony… Hey All, Just wanted to post an update after another wonderful Baltimore Comicon. For me the show started a bit rocky with Adam Hughes cancellation. Despite that news, there was a healthy line outside the convention center early Saturday morning. While waiting I had the pleasure of chatting with Baltimore stalwarts like Dave Bartee (Hi!), Dennis McGlynn, and Terry Peterson, and met new…

Neal Adams son, Jason Adams, posted at the Collector’s Society Message Board on the thieving that took place at the San Diego Comic Con this year. In addition to one of his own statues walking off, so too did two of his dad’s comics. I found that the thief came back to steal 2 things from my father worth a couple hundred dollars each. He had a Superman CGC graded comic which he had drawn an original Superman portrait on and a Green Lantern with an original Green Lantern and Green Arrow portrait on. Both were on stands and both…

Word from Comics Continuum is Robin will be joining The Batman family this fall on the Kid’s WB. Voiced by 14 year old Evan Sabara, of Malcom in the Middle and Chasing Amy fame, he will portray the Dick Grayson Robin in the Saturday morning cartoon. This is a change for Warner Bros./DC Comics, who last year at the San Diego Comic Con said Robin wouldn’t appear in The Batman as he had other duties with the Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans. Sabara will join Rino Romano (Batman) and Danielle Judovits (Batgirl) to help craft the stories of Batman’s early years.

Fans of Electric Tiki Design, who for years have created statues and maquettes of some of the most well known cartoon, comicbook, and movie/television celebrities, will not have their own booth at the San Diego Comic Con this year. Instead they will be sharing booth space with Sideshow Collectible, creators of all sorts of master replicas. Tracy at Electric Tiki dropped us an e-mail about the move, For those of you who may get to Comic Con and wonder why Electric Tiki is not listed in the list of exhibitors, we will actually be displaying product at the Sideshow Collectibles…

Wizard wants it all? Apparently so. Interestingly, not a week after San Diego Comic-Con International, Wizard Entertainment (publishers of many comic and toy related publications) announced they will host a comic convention in the ATL (that’s Atlanta, GA for you who are in the dark). This is both good news and bad news.

Chada put it best when we showed up at 9:00 am (an hour before the show opened) to packed crowds, “This is insane!” And insane it was. Shoulder to shoulder as you moved throughout the convention center. Makes you wish a man could fly…

Today was a day filled with DVD, movie, and television related panels. We sat through many of them, and got a two for one to boot. The program printed by the comic convention folk is sometimes misleading and sometimes very unclear. Such was the case with this morning’s first panel on the new releases from Anchor Bay Entertainment. If you have followed my articles over the years, many of you know my weird fandom (obsession some may call it) with Charisma Carpenter. When I saw her name listed as appearing to discuss new DVD releases, I knew we had to be…

Chada and I went down to the convention center and signed in. Then we waited in line for THREE HOURS to get into preview night. While Chada was bored out of her mind (mainly because I forgot to bring the PSP with us), we were both glad we waited.

and so it begins… Got to San Diego for the motherload of all comicbook conventions, and we’re already tired! Walked about five miles in the SoCal heat and it took its toll on poor Chada. We’re taking off in a few minute to go sign in and check out Preview Night. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the biggest geek fan in the world and 1 being mild mannered Clark Kent, I would say I fall around a 7. Not strange enough to dress up, but goofy enough to get really excited about running around with…
