There is a weird progression in my comic book and collectible habit that concerns the heck out of me.  Back in the day, I was more than satisfied with just buying comic books.  Then the T-shirts started showing up in my closet, followed by small action figures, and original comic book art.  That eventually turned to small statues, which lead to larger statues, which lead to me nabbing a larger than life sized statue of Batman, that stands in the Nerd Room of Doom. For a while I’ve been trying to track down the Gentle Giant Princess Leia Animated Life…

One of my favorite cable television shows is Burn Notice on the USA Network. Not just for the spy action and A-Team cranked to eleven feel, but because of Bruce Campbell. Bruce makes the show, and is a favorite actor of mine. During the Burn Notice panel at the San Diego Comic Con it was announced a prequel movie to the television show is in the works, and it will star Bruce in a big, big way. …movie to the series that will focus on Sam Axe, Bruce Campbell’s character, on his final mission as a Navy SEAL. The film…

There have been rumblings and rumors that Joss Whedon was all set to direct the Avengers movie for Marvel, and today he made it official at the Marvel Studios panel. “The thing I love about it is how completely counter-intuitive it is,” confessed Whedon. “These people should not be in the same room, much less the same team. The very definition of family.” I think Whedon should do just fine with this project as he’s no stranger to ensemble tales, and this may be his chance to tell his most epic story yet. via Superhero Hype

Bleeding Cool reports that this awesome Frank Frazetta Conan painting sold for $1.5 million at the San Diego Comic Con in a private sale with the Frazetta Management Corporation.  It is a defining Conan image, and worthy of an Art Appreciation Moment of the Day entry, but even if the currency exchange rate of Luthor Dollars to the U.S. dollar made me a multi-billionaire, I’m not sure this would be high on my list of Need to Buys.  Now if they tossed in a couple Nagels and a Vargas or two…* via Bleeding Cool *Yes, those of you who were…

I really love the life size and larger than life sized statues that the booths utilize during their major shows.  Here is Mattel’s Prince Adam ready for today’s attendees to stand around shouting “I have the POWER!” Like I’m sure he’s never heard that one before… I wonder what these companies do with the statues after the convention season is over? via Mattel
