Boom! Studios has announced the company has made Giant Monster available to read for free from now until May 9, 2008. Written by Steve (30 DAYS OF NIGHT) Niles and Nat (FRANK FRAZETTA’S DEATH DEALER) Jones, GIANT MONSTER follows space-shuttle pilot Don Maggert. As Entertainment Weekly so succinctly put it,  as he is “…overtaken by an alien parasite just before re-entering Earth’s atmosphere, he transforms into an extremely hungry and extremely big beastie. Boom! Studios has announced Wendy Wallace will be the General Manager for the company. “Wendy is perfect to keep BOOM! running like clockwork. Davis Entertainment has acquired the rights to Boom! Studios North Wind mini-series, and have started on the road to major motion picture by hiring scribe David DiGilio. The story takes place in a futuristic Los Angeles, years after global warming has created a new ice age. Most survivors live under the ice and are ruled by a dictator who exiles some citizens to the harsh environment outdoors. His cruel actions cause one of the exiles to lead a revolution. If you want to skip it, that’s fine – in a nutshell, the series is off to a great start, and after reading issue three, I’m upset this title only comes out once a month.

I’m gonna file this in the WTF category. Yes, it is an actual poster that you can pick up this week from Boom! Studios. It could be worse, it could be this. And at least it’s not this. Boom! Studios has announced it has seen a 30% increase in orders for issue #4 or North Wind. Why does this warrant an item on Major Spoilers? “We usually see a dip of 10% or more between issues #3 and #4 of any of our series. That said, we saw nearly a 20% increase in orders between issue #3 and #4 of NORTH WIND. An increase like this has never happened in the history of our company. Never. Everyone has their favorite buddy movie. Whether it’s Tango and Cash, Lethal Weapon, Rush Hour, the Last Boy Scout, or even 48 Hours it all boils down to the interactions between the central characters. In the case of Cover Girl from Boom! Boom! Studios has announced its award winning Zombie Tales anthology will be getting the monthly treatment in April. “Everybody at BOOM! is really stoked about doing another new monthly anthology. We had such success with the original ZOMBIE TALES one-shots, we knew our fans were hungry for more.  And this new monthly ZOMBIE TALES will satiate the most ravenous fans!” Chip Mosher, Marketing and Sales Director for BOOM! Boom! Studios has announced that the Foundation has completely sold out.  In fact, in anticipation of fan reaction, the company shipped 20-percent more to stores. “I’m a big fan of high concepts, especially those that sit right on the edge of what’s possible. When I pitched THE FOUNDATION to Ross [Richie] at BOOM!, he saw the potential in the premise and got behind it one hundred percent,” said creator Kody Chamberlain. “Now, with the first issue selling out, I’m extremely pleased to find readers and retailers responding to the book as well.
