Art Asylum announced the Marvel Select Cyclops figure a while ago that features a portion of the Danger Room as its base (presumably the other figures will have more Danger Room goodness). Now the company has announced a X-Factor Cyclops variant that will be packed 1:2 ratio (4 Silver Age to 2 X-Factor figures per case). I don’t mind that companies like Art Asylum release variant figures, especially if the figure is different enough from the main figure, but it does bite that one has to purchase an entire case of the figures just to get the variant.  Still, it’s…

Mattel has announced it will release Skeletor’s mistress of magic in April. Evil-Lyn comes complete with staff, wand (with removbale swapable headpiece), Skreeech, bird armor and bird perch! The figure will only be available at the Matty Collector website.  I remember when Masters of the Universe toys were first released, and I watched the cartoon series whenever I could, but I do not remember half of the characters Mattel is pushing out. I guess memory loss comes with getting older. via Matty Collector

Next to the Justice League Unlimited action figures, the DC Universe Classics line (and the build-a-figure series) is on my must buy list.  It’s just too bad our local stores don’t care any of the figures, forcing me to go online to quietly build up my collection.   This spring, Mattel will launch the thirteenth series of the action figure line that includes Blue Beetle, Blue Devil, Wonder Girl, and Negative Man. Gallery after the jump!

This 6″ scale, chunky figure is fully-articulated (including articulated wings) and arrives ready for battle in his new brown war deco and Hawk Jet. Yes, it is certainly cool, but Mattel doesn’t say if Hawkman comes with his own Nth Metal mace for…

One of our favorite stories of modifying action figures, has to be Sillof’s Justice League by Gaslight.  Now Sillof is back with the Gaslight Legion of Doom! Inspired by the comic book, Gotham by Gaslight by Mike Mignola and Brian Augustyn. Set in the 1880’s, Batman attempts to stop Jack the Ripper, who has come to Gotham. The figures have darker look and are a great blend of the Victorian aesthetic and the feel of the original characters. Take the jump for the full gallery of goodness!

Oh yes, these will be mine.  Mattel has gone back to the source to come up with a new line based on the vintage MEGO figures from days past. Check out these prototype images. You’ll see they’re not recreations, but updates lovingly based on the old style. In some cases, we’re even improving on iconic features for some of your favorite characters, like a more accurate belt buckle for Green Arrow, or an “s” curl in the hair of Superman. Green Arrow is the first figure out of the gate, and will be released on December 15, 2009.  You’ll have…
