With the sudden death of Al Simmons in the pages of Spawn #185, Todd McFarlane and Whilce Portacio are taking the series in a new direction – or giving us one heck of a swerve. Regardless, the issue sold out as did issue #186, which hit stores last week. While reprints are on the way, Image Comics is taking Spawn online to MySpace, allowing fans to read issue #185 in its entirety. “Todd McFarlane Productions is excited to be partnering with Myspace Comics to bring the fans Spawn #185,” McFarlane said. “Myspace Comics is the wave of the new generation.…

It…

The issue features neither Batman nor the Outsiders A strange thing happens when a single character dips his finger into multiple titles. Take Batman, for example. He appears, or appeared if you want to be more specific, in Batman, Detective Comics, JLA, Batman and the Outsiders, Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, Trinity, Final Crisis, Superman/Batman, and various other appearances and guest spots in the rest of the DC universe. When some brainiac decides it would be a great idea to kill Batman (figuratively or literally, we don’t know yet) it causes nothing but problems in the rest of the titles. Batman and…

Because of my video and film background, I have big admiration for anyone that attempts to do their own superhero short film. Just finished watching the latest from Kyle Higgins and Alec Siegel, called the League, and it isn’t what you think. First it is a noir crime story set in Chicago, and while it does feature superheroes, it doesn’t feature any IP owned by someone else. From the press release Filmmakers Kyle Higgins and Alec Siegel are proud to announce the completion of The League, a brand new superhero noir from Windy City Pictures and the Dodge College of…
Anyone who saw the video excerpts from the Twilight panel at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con knew there was a huge fanbase waiting to jump all over this movie when it opened. No suprise, every flick that premired this weeked paled next to Twilight. Even Quantum of Solace, in its second week, couldn’t slay the film that is going to be a huge franchise for Summit Entertainment.
When last we left the title character and his British secret service companion, they were stuck on a train, headed for a cliff, and battling some horrific scientific Nazi experiments gone wrong. If you thought Robo and Sparrow were doomed, then you probably haven’t been reading comics that long.
