Ok who is this cartoon aimed at? What age range and what station is it on?
Im in the uk so it isnt even been shown here yet
@JMF
Its one of those awesome shows where your kidbrother laughs at Plasticman while you chuckle at the subtle references and overall campines. Its a genuine one size fits all cartoon…And yes sadly i was forced to..cough legally cough…aquire it through the internet…even though no such service yet exists.
@lifeisaglitch
I had the same problem with JL and JLU nowhere broadcasts it here regular so i ordered a DVD from America off of ebay. Fairly certain i was stung though
Yeah but theres no DVD out yet and my brother saw the trailer and was all like O.O ooh when will this be on? So i “aquired” the 1st few episodes :S
I have been enjoying this show. Also it looks great on HD but I was sure that it was Alan Moore with Batman and Green Arrow.
I had no intention of getting behind this series because the marketing and art style scream “all ages” and camp.
But..I accidentally caught the Aquaman episode and was blown away by how they took elements from various incarnations and blended it into something reverent yet entertaining. Certainly more fun than the recent “The Batman” cartoon series. References to every incarnation abound. But THANKFULLY Batman’s attitude/demeanor is gritty, leaving other story elements to be ‘camp” or lighthearted enough for kids. But nothing is TOO cutesy, like the Teen Titans cartoon.
This is the best characterization of Aquaman ever. Red Tornado was nicely done. Still not a fan of the design template per se, but the overall effect is like a blend of The New Frontier with JLU.
I have no problem with the simplification of the art if it makes it affordable enough that they keep being able to produce such quality writing. They have made some changes unnecessary such as horrid changes to Tornado’s costume (shoulder pads?) but in general I have enjoyed the episodes immensely and found most of them worth watching a second time. Batman is not as much as a limp fish as in comics and can have some fun at least with his thoughts i.e. “Cool”.
