I’d say the craziest thing I’ve heard on the show in a while, well since Stevens insane take on AI, is that The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline are somehow pro studio. I read these a lot and listen to their podcasts and they are pro union and only placate the studios because they are attempting to be about business and to get the stories on business they have to be able to talk to producers and studio heads and such.
Kid Masters was obsessed with uncovering Harvey Weinstein’s misdeeds, and they are very quick to point out studio hypocrisy in terms of me too movement.
They definitely wear their heart on their sleeve in terms of being pro Union. Deadline is so very performance-based liberal that they are obsessed with Bill Maher. I mean obsessed!
The latest article from Nov 13 on The Hollywood Reporter about why the Marvels failed and how Marvel can still turn things around was very rational and positive towards Marvel’s future. Absolutely the opposite of the way Stephen characterized them last week.
You’re right Tony, all my ideas are crazy… until they are not.
By the way, Penske Media – the group that owns The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, and Variety, also own Dick Clark Productions, which is a member of the AMPTP – definitely pro-studio, if you ask me.
