AHSOKA AIMS FOR AUGUST
On Wednesday this week, Disney+ released an Ahsoka teaser trailer featuring the eponymous character in the first extended look we’ve had at her original series since Star Wars Celebration: Europe earlier this week.
Star Wars: Ahsoka – Official Teaser Trailer (2023) Rosario Dawson
No Description
Star Wars: Rebels character Sabine Wren (played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo in the series) is prominently featured throughout. Star Wars fans immediately lit up the internet to share reactions to the new footage. Rebels mainstays Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizbaeth Winstead), and Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), also play central roles in the Ahsoka series.
AND THEN THERE WAS CHOPPER!
The same little droid who ran away with audience hearts in Rebels appears poised to do the same in Ahsoka.
We even get to see Thrawn – referred to as “heir to the empire.” in the teaser trailer.
Lastly, but not leastly this new trailer confirms Ahsoka has an August 23, 2023 release date.
ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE WEBSLINGS TO OPENING WEEKEND VICTORY
“I’ma do my own thing.”
~ Miles Morales
In this case, the power of Miles Morales extends all the way to the box office. Across the Spider-Verse smashed all expectations based on the success of 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse with Variety reporting a $120.5 Million Debut.
Variety goes on to add:
- “The film beat expectations to land the second-biggest opening weekend of the year, behind only “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” with $146 million, as well as the third-biggest opening weekend for any “Spider-Man” film.”
For those playing along at home, Into the Spider-Verse made $35 million its opening weekend and ended its theatrical run with $190 million in North America and $384 million globally. It’s not huge logic leap to assume Across the Spider-Verse is going to blow its predecessor out of the water.
It also comes as no surprise that Across the Spider-Verse won the weekend with Little Mermaid in the number two spot and The Boogeyman sliding into third.
