Is there nothing LEGO can’t do? I can build a small world for my son to play with, or a robot, that someday will rise up and kill me in my sleep. LEGO can be used for so many things, including recreating the Antikythera Mechanism that perplexed people for a number of years.
The Antikythera mechanism, is an ancient mechanical computer designed to calculate astronomical positions. It was recovered in 1900–01 from the Antikythera wreck, but its complexity and significance were not understood until decades later. The degree of mechanical sophistication is comparable to a 19th century Swiss clock. Technological artifacts of similar complexity and workmanship did not reappear until the 14th century, when mechanical astronomical clocks appeared in Europe.
Check out the video to see this modern recreation in action, then head over to the LEGO website and beg them to sell a kit to build one yourself.

I thought had too much time on my hands… :nP
That’s awesome. If they make a set available for purchase, I would own it in a minute!
Gotta keep track of those eclipses, you know.
