With that out of the way, I think the gang is on a fools errand and that from the get go, Asmodeus has made a great *show* of looking to create his own council, but has not managed to get any new members, almost like it’s just a smoke screen for his real plan.
This seems odd until you realize the good guys have a huge liability in the form of Erathis, kill, disable or blackmail her and he wins since everyone who has signed signed to back Erathis.
No Erathis = Asmodeus wins by default.
Maybe the reason Asmodeus has being so forceful and sent so many disposable troops is so the Obsidian Huntress can capture the souls of the dead in jars to create a similar bomb to the one Randus made to nuke Erathis city with her in it.
