Press Release
Mid-Ohio-Con announced that Eisner Award-winning creator, Chris Sprouse, has joined the guest roster for Mid-Ohio-Con 2010. “Recently described by Atomic Comics as one of today’s artistic juggernauts, Chris has produced fan-favorite work alongside some of the most prominent writers in the world of comics today. We’re very pleased to welcome him back as a special guest for our 30th anniversary show,” commented James Henry, Managing Director of Mid-Ohio-Con.
Chris was most recently paired with writer Grant Morrison for the first issue of DC’s most anticipated series of 2010, Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne. Chris is probably best known as the artist and co-creator of Alan Moore’s Tom Strong for Wildstorm’s ABC Comics imprint, which returns in June 2010 with the six-issue series, Tom Strong and the Robots of Doom. With writer Warren Ellis, Chris designed and drew Wildstorm’s science fiction miniseries Ocean.
Chris has worked on projects including Human Target, Number of the Beast, Midnighter, Legionnaires, Batman, Justice League, Wild C.AT.S., Star Wars, Grendel, Supreme, and X-Men. With such a fantastic body of work, it’s no wonder why Chris was the subject of Modern Masters Volume 21 from TwoMorrows Publishing. Woo Hoo! It’s really the only Con that I can ever afford to go to, it’s close to home and I just can’t afford going to any of the bigger ones. I hope they get a lot more good people there this year. While not on the list, I have a feeling that Mark Sumerak will be making an appearance since he’s from Cleveland and Tony Isabella’s been on the slate for the past 3-4 years for sure. Bernie Wrightson was there last year plus a whole slew of others. There weren’t many of the really big names there and honestly I don’t blame them. I have a lot of fun, and I think I’d get swallowed up in something like San Diego.
