Gosh darn it, but I do miss seeing Mike Wieringo and the fantastic art he used to dish out. Today’s Art Appreciation Moment of the Day feature Mike’s interpretation of Peter Parker as a monkey – because monkeys sell.

I think all of fandom is sorry he passed on, or at least should be. Everytime I look at his work I fall in love all over again with his style. It is slick and clear, while at same time communicating all of the write emotion both in story, on the part of the fans, and on the part of the artist. Just looking at this image above you mind begins to whirl with story. Why is Peter Parker a chimp? Why does he look confused? Is it because he suddenly a chimp, or is he normally a chimp and he has yet again been smacked upside the head by the never-ending weirdness and angst that is his life as Spider-Chimp? I seriously miss Wieringo. He had it all over some artist. He had it all over some of comics current artist, who can’t seem to draw a smooth solid line even while drawing their bimbos with boobs bigger than their heads. Wieringo was a classic.
