If you have ever dreamt of discovering the mother load of comic collections stashed in your grand parents closet, take a moment to read the first person account of the discovery of the Mile High Collection.
I quizzed the Realtor for a while about the contents of the closet. He indicated that there were a bunch of old cowboy and horror comics from the 1950’s, which sure sounded good to me. I then asked him if there were any super-hero comics, and he said he thought there might be some old Batman and Superman comics, but he wasn’t sure. In any case, what he had described was more than enough for me to get very excited. I asked him when we could get together at the house to look at the comics, and he indicated that he thought he could make arrangements with the sellers to be there on the following Saturday. I agreed to be there at the appointed time, and hung up the phone.
Seriously, the entire article is a fascinating read and worth every moment of your time.

Wow, I had to quit after about 17 chapters, but what a read.
When I made the descision to start collecting comics a few years ago one of the first things I did was buy all the assorted Age of Apocalypse series. I had loved them when they first came out but being a student at the time couldn’t afford to buy comics. I don’t know if I could have gotten them elsewhere although I recall searching on the internet but Mile High comics was the place I eventually found to have them all. They even put me on their mailing list, although they stopped at some point without me realising. I was just reading the article when I suddenly realised I had read it before. The owner said he wanted to get into the mail order business, and it occurrs to me I might never have gotten all the comics I wanted if he hadn’t been in business, or at least not so easily from one place. For me then it’s actually personal luck he managed to have his own luck back in the 70’s. It’s a wonderful story as well. It mentions Action comics #1 being in the collection. I went “no way” when I saw that.
