Press Release
“Star Wars XXX: A Porn Parody” from Axel Braun Productions and Vivid Entertainment, won eight coveted AVN Awards on Saturday, including the best selling and renting movie of the year. Its director Axel Braun was honored as Best Director-Parody for his work on “Star Wars XXX”, and made history by winning for the third consecutive year as Director of the Year-Body of Work. The awards were among a dozen picked up by Vivid and its partners.
Complementing its honor as best seller and renter, Star Wars XXX was selected for Best Art Direction, Best Overall Marketing Campaign, Best Parody-Comedy, Best Screenplay-Parody and Best Director-Parody, while Tom Byron was selected as Best Supporting Actor for his outstanding turn as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the film.
“Being singled out as the best selling and renting movie of the year is a ringing endorsement for Star Wars XXX and for our strategy of presenting unequalled parodies that fans most want to see,” said Steven Hirsch, founder/co-chairman of Vivid.
“Winning Director of the Year for the third consecutive time was pretty surreal” said Braun. “I have to admit that I honestly did not expect it, but I am absolutely thrilled that I received this tremendous honor. I guess it is a testament to the dedication that my amazing team and I put into every project we tackle, and to the respect we have for all the characters we parody.”
Other awards picked up by Vivid and its partners were Capri Anderson as Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Pee-Wee’s XXX Adventure: A Porn Parody;” Best Pro-Am Release for “Brand New Faces 36;” Best Specialty Release for “Brand New Faces 36-Curvy Edition;” Best Pro-Am Series award for the Brand New Faces franchise; and Best Cross-over Star of the Year to former Vivid Girl Sunny Leone, now head of Vivid partner studio SunLust Pictures.
