Word is spreading through the blogosphere that Phil Jimenez is stepping in to replace artist Simone Bianchi on the Astonishing X-Men series written by Warren Ellis. It’s interesting if it is true, as Simone is a really dedicated artist who does some pretty “astonishing” art.
But what the hell do I know if this is true, the story first appeared on Superpouvoir.com, which is a French website, and I don’t speak French, plus the story has been removed from the site. We’ll find out more on Tuesday at 12:00 EDT, right here on this site, but you’ll have to do some math and pay careful attention to “the post” to see if this is the real deal or not.

Whether the info is correct or not is still an unknown quantity.
I miss Morrison’s Xorn. Even if it renders the character of Magneto irredeemable (or, should that be ‘Especially because’?), he was still fantastically compelling and interesting. What they did with him afterwards was, urgh. Terrible.
I like Phil Jimenez’s art a lot. But, If Quesada had handled the management of Bianchi’s schedule WAY BACK in FALL 2007 better, we probably could have gotten 12 issues out of him. But NO, Bianchi didn’t even start drawing Astonishing X-Men until May 2008. Thus, all the Delays. Thus, the loss in interest in Warren Ellis’ run on Astonishing X-Men.
I look forward to Jimenez’s run. I hope he and Warren Ellis can get this title on a regular schedule.
