That cover is confusing. Old garbs mixed with new garbs and Iron Man was included twice for some reason.
Different Iron men. One is Stark, one is Rhodes. Each Avenger is wearing the costume he or she wore when she joined, which is why we get the ugly green Wonder Man number and Black Panther lacking a full facemask…
I realized that, but it’s still confusing to look at. Rhodes joining the Avengers as Iron Man I didn’t know about though. In Marvel’s “continuum” was Blonde Superman an Avenger before New Avengers or was he just an ally?
It’s nice to see that the Avengers started out the same way the T-Bolts did; arguing, trying to kill eac other, and occasionally ganging up on whoever was calling themselves boss.
And speaking of which, who’s betting that Moonstone dies of blood loss next issue? I don’t see on August’s solicitation cover…

I believe he was an associate, but never joined until they found him in the Vault. If we assume the events of the Sentry series at face value, anyway. Jim Rhodes was the Iron Man in the West Coast Avengers LIMITED series, but Tony was back to being Iron Man in the Silver Centurion armor by the first issue of the REGULAR WCA series.
Can anyone identify the seemingly blue-skinned man to the left of Triathlon (our left, not his) directly below the Falcon?
Ronan the Accuser, most likely. Have NO idea what’s HE’S doing there, when William ‘Aw, Now It’s In My SHORTS!’ Baker is the only villain I can remember as joining the Avengers…
