There’s a brand new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, and it looks pretty good.

“I made him.”
“You worked wth MY FATHER.”
So, now, Spiderman, the superhero who was NOT saddled with stupid superhero movie cliches like the Burton Batman “Heroes make villains/Villains make heroes” idea and the “REVENGE for my FATHEEEERRRR!!!” syndrome is now saddled with BOTH in this new film.
Yuck.
Wait. So they’re giving his parents a background? And they’re having that tie in to the major villains? That seems too likely to be believable. But then again, this is coming from someone who can’t get over that Loki and Thor are siblings in the Marvel universe.
Keep in mind that a lot of this movie is based on the Ultimate Universe where Peter’s parents were killed by the Hulk. The worked with Banner.
I’m happy that there isn’t anymore of that first-person view, hopefully it’s not in the movie either. It looks like they just put it in for the 3D factor.
Bleh.
That looked great! I am more interested in seeing The Avengers, but only because of Joss. This was a far, far more exciting trailer. Good effects work, I’d say, with a minimum of over-blurred effects smearing. Score one for Sony, amazingly.
I will not be seeing Avengers in 3D because it is post-conversion. But this I would be totally willing to see as my first in-theater 3D film. (other than Jaws 3D, that is!)
“..VS one guy, in a Unitard.”
And in a small town in Kansas, Matthew Peterson remarks to his computer screen “YOU’RE a Unitard!”
Hey look it’s abomination….Wait what?!
No JJJ? Huh…
Can I just go on record saying I hate his hair?
Looks like this spider only goes out at night.
He mostly goes out at night, mostly.
Gotta wait for the alien symbiote for that….
Can’t say that I was jazzed for the new Spidey movie. But after seeing this trailer … I’m in.
Am I the only who thinks the actors playing Peter and Gwen are lots uglier than they are supposed to be. What’s with Peter’s hair? No way that would fit under the mask! And the whole tension over the Pete/Gwen romance in the comics (and yes, Matthew, I read the original issues) was that Pete was a big dork and Gwen was drop-dead gorgeous. I have no problem with the Dr. Connors/Ozcorp/Parker connection, it makes more sense than Pete’s parents both being super spies who died behind the iron curtain (but I’m not certain if I have that part right because the Parker Parents story didn’t occur until after I quit reading Marvel in the late 70s, if memory serves me correct.) I’ll go see the movie. So long as they don’t do a “Raindrop keeps falling on my head” montage, it will probably be an enjoyable afternoon’s viewing. Except for that hair. Gawd, where is my Eye Bleach?
Why does the Lizard look like he just stepped off of the 1993 Super Mario Bros movie set? The Lizard looks more like King Koopa from that 1993 film.I think he’d be even more badass if he was closer in appearance to his comic book counter-part.In the comics the Lizard is bigger and more menacing looking. Here he looks like he would make a great addition in the new Star Trek movie as a villian.Remember Kirk fighting that humanoid lizard creature in the 1960’s version of Star Trek.
Don’t know why you guys are hating on this. Yes, his hair is spikey. Will that impact the plot? Pacing? Acting? Effects? No.
In the Raimi movie, everyone bitched about the organic web shooters. Now, it’s back to the chemical/mechanical ones and everyone’s bitching about his HAIR.
I’m sure the actor with his hair are under the mask. Are you guys all bald or something and have hang ups about guys with a full head of hair?
:-D
I have no problem with the hair. I don’t care that his parents knew Dr Connors. I would not care if he was played by Jason Schwartzman, called himself Miguel and had to fight Thanatos and Halloween Jack. My beef is with the fact that it seems to be focused on the origin of Spiderman. Every man and his dog saw the Raimi films. They all know who Peter Parker is, and how he got his powers. I don’t think there would be any problem with a quick hand waving explanation to this versions origin, and then move onto the real story, one that has not been told yet.
It seems that the studios only know how to show the creation of the heroes, and have no idea what to do with them once they are established. I feel the most recent exception to this was The Incredible Hulk. “Here is your protagonist, here is a flash back, and lets pick up a few years on.”
