Today at the New York Comic Con, Boom! Studios Editor-in-Chief Mark Waid, broke down what is coming from him in 2009.
The latest series by Waid will be Unknown, a 4-issue mini-series detective story that Waid describes as a cross between Doc Savage and David Lynch. One sentence premise? Detective Catherine Allingham wants to solve the greatest mystery of all time; what happens when you die?
We interviewed Waid last year on the Major Spoilers podcast, where he said Boom! Studios wouldn’t write a normal superhero comic. With the announcement of Irredeemable, a story that features the world’s greatest hero becoming the world’s greatest villain, we questioned Waid’s previous statement – until it was pointed out Irredeemable isn’t about a hero. Oo! Curse you semantics! Irredeemable is expected to be an ongoing series that kicks off in April.
Boom! also announced WaidTV, which will be a weekly video journal featuring Waid, and will be hosted on the Comic Book Resources website – gee, what are we, chopped liver?
