COMICS PORTAL: Have a Merry Facsimile Christmas!

Wayne HallBy Wayne HallSeptember 22, 2025Updated:September 22, 20254 Mins Read

I’m already looking forward to the 2025 holiday season, and that includes two great holiday facsimile Christmas comics from DC!

    WHAT’S COMING?

Wayne’s Comics, Wayne Hall, facsimile, superhero, Christmas, holiday, anthology, Ant-Man, Recently, DC announced their facsimile line-up for December, and that includes the first-ever appearance of Two-Face, a Batman foe. Normally, that would be high on my “looking forward to it” list. However, I’m a huge holiday season fan who is already playing Christmas music (I used to sing in a choir, and we always started practicing season music in early October so we’d be ready, so this is normal for me) and noticing all the Halloween items for sake. Mixed in with them are the beginnings of the Christmas stuff people enjoy, so this is a good time of the year for me!

DC caught my attention by offering two big (on several levels) holiday offerings—Christmas with the Super-heroes and a reprint of an early Wonder Woman holiday tale!

    I can’t wait!

Oddly enough, the first book is actually the reprint of a reprint. The original Christmas with the Super-heroes reprinted holiday tales:

LIMITED COLLECTORS’ EDITION #C-43: CHRISTMAS WITH THE SUPER-HEROES FACSIMILE EDITION

Written by JERRY SIEGEL, MIKE FRIEDRICH, LEN WEIN, E. NELSON BRIDWELL, WILLIAM MOULTON MARSTON, and JACK KIRBY

Art by JACK BURNLEY, NEAL ADAMS, BERNIE WRIGHTSON, HARRY G. PETER, and JACK KIRBY

    Cover by CURT SWAN
Foil variant cover by CURT SWAN ($14.99 US)

Join Superman as he helps Santa save Christmas! Spend a silent night with the Dark Knight! Watch Wonder Woman rescue a troubled family from Nazis—with the help of a very special Christmas tree! All this plus a yuletide yarn from the holiday-decked halls of The House of Mystery, and a second-rate wrestler gets a new lease on life as a first-rate Santa thanks to the Sandman and Sandy!

    $12.99 US | 60 pages
    ON SALE 12/3/25

The second book is Sensation Comics #38, and here is its description:

    SENSATION COMICS #38 FACSIMILE EDITION

Written by WILLIAM MOULTON MARSTON, W.W.D. SONES, M.C. GAINES, JACK MILLER, and BILL FINGER

Art by HARRY G. PETER, ALLEN SIMON, FRANK HARRY, JOHN JENKS, JON BLUMMER, and JOE GALLAGHER

    Cover by HARRY G. PETER
Foil variant cover by HARRY G. PETER ($7.99 US)
    Blank sketch cover ($5.99)

It’s the wheels of an invisible plane rather than reindeer hooves touching down on a lonely tenement rooftop when Wonder Woman stands in for Santa to bring joy to one unfortunate family for Christmas. Little does the astounding Amazon know this innocent holiday gesture will lead directly to her helping a gang of ruthless robbers steal a fortune in gold!

    $4.99 US | 52 pages
    ON SALE 12/17/25

    NOSTALGIA STILL SELLS!

Wayne’s Comics, Wayne Hall, facsimile, superhero, Christmas, holiday, anthology, Ant-Man, I’ve often pointed out that nostalgia sells on many levels, and that includes these facsimile comics that quite regularly appear at local comics shops. Both DC and Marvel (and Image, too, I believe) produce these on a regular basis.

After all, they did earn their places among fans, and we like to revisit the last at times, especially if they are significant!

Of course, they are sold at today’s prices, not the original price tags. I don’t know how or even if the companies actually reimburse the creators, but if they do, I seriously doubt they do at the regular rate. So the companies make a lot of money with them, I’m sure!

Then, too, the paper copies tend to degrade over time, so a freshly printed copy does have its appeal!

Also, even these facsimile copies will certainly degrade over time as well, so they could be reprinted again in a few years! They are a gift that keeps on giving!

It also seems like these books will be reprinted in their original, larger sizes, which I always enjoy! They certainly are priced that way!

    MORE HOLIDAY OFFERINGS?

Wayne’s Comics, Wayne Hall, facsimile, superhero, Christmas, holiday, anthology, Ant-Man, I recently read an Ant-Man holiday special from Marvel that I enjoyed, so I will keep my ear to the ground to see if there will be new 2025 holiday comics. DC has made a habit of occasional seasonal anthology specials, so I am hoping for at least a couple new ones in the months ahead!

After all, these books meet my needs for shorter stories compared to regular comics that often extend takes for months and months at a time! It’s a nice change of pace!

So, will you be buying these reprints this year? If you do or don’t, I still hope you have a merry facsimile Christmas in 2025!

What do you think? How much of your comics buying consists of facsimile reprints? Are there ones you haven’t seen be released that you want to come out? How long should a company hold back from reprinting a landmark comic? Whatever your opinion, be sure to share it on our Discord Server!
