As his innovative work gained recognition, Eisner broke boundaries with The Spirit—a Sunday comic insert that showcased his unique storytelling vision. Even his service during World War II furthered his legacy, as he used comics as a tool for education. After the war, Eisner’s reinvention of the medium continued with A Contract with God, a groundbreaking work that helped launch the “graphic novel” genre.
