PRESS RELEASE
The social media sensation BITE SIZED ARCHIE hits its 200th episode today, marking four years of the hilariously irreverent and wildly imaginative webcomic series from Archie Comics by writer Ron Cacace and artist Vincent Lovallo. The online strip, with new episodes releasing every Thursday on TinyView, reaches over 2M enthusiastic readers.
“It’s so unreal that we’ve reached 200 strips of BITE SIZED ARCHIE,” said Lovallo, who also serves as Archie’s art director. “Ron and I have been working on this webcomic consistently for almost four years now and have never missed a week. In some ways, it’s been so automatic, like a routine or habit, so getting here happened before I even knew it!”
“I can’t thank the team at Archie enough for letting me get away with basically whatever I want,” said Cacace, “and for the Archie fans who allow us to present another different take on the Riverdale gang.”
Launched in late 2020 by Lovallo and Cacace, who at the time was Archie’s director of publicity and social media, the strip brought Archie stories into the digital age with relatable, up-to-the-minute references to memes, viral tweets, YouTube crazes, and terminally online culture, while keeping the charm and core traits of Archie’s world-renowned characters at the forefront. Over the past 200 episodes, the duo has peppered their four-panel gags with new zany characters, widening the scope into a sprawling “Bite Sized Universe” all its own, including fan-favorites Spider and Scam Likely, who has gone on to appear in Archie’s mainline printed comics.
Reflecting on the strip’s early days, Lovallo said, “It’s amazing to see how far both Ron and I have come in terms of dialogue and art. I’m forever grateful for the hard work and dedication Ron has. He’s as funny and witty in real life as he is on paper, and to be that brilliant on this series without missing a beat is so admirable. I couldn’t ask for a better friend and co-creator to be on this journey with!”
“None of BITE SIZED ARCHIE would be possible without the relentless dedication of artist and co-creator Vincent Lovallo, who goes above and beyond what’s expected for a weekly social media comic,” Cacace added. “When I look back at where it began and how much we’ve all learned and changed throughout the course of this comic’s run, I’m astonished. Writing BITE SIZED ARCHIE and collaborating with Vincent has become the one constant in my life, the one thing I know is going to deliver a spark of joy and creativity and inspiration every week.”
The webcomic has been collected in two print volumes to date, available everywhere books are sold and from Archie directly, along with a new collection of BITE SIZED ARCHIE-inspired tee-shirts, mugs, and limited-edition prints. The 200th episode of BITE SIZED ARCHIE, entitled “A Major Milestone,” is online now at TinyView and Archie’s social media channels.
