- Publishers wouldn’t make variant covers if people weren’t buying them
- It puts money in the pockets of artists like Benjamin Su
- Because variant covers are often limited in their run, some variant covers like 1:100 Jim Lee covers can go for hundreds of dollars. And for comic shops who claim their sales are suffering, selling a variant cover for $400 can be the difference between staying open another month, or going out of business.
