Vampirella made her debut 50 years ago with an iconic cover by Frank Frazetta, and now Dynamite Entertainment announced the Frazetta connection continues as Sara Frazetta brings us Vampirella: Dead Flowers.
Sara Frazetta is the granddaughter of Frank Frazetta, and will be the writer and cover artist for the series.
“It’s such an honor for me to carry on the Frazetta legacy with Vampirella,” said writer Sara Frazetta in a press release from Dynamite Entertainment. “Now, being able to pick up that torch myself, in a small way of course, is entirely surreal. I’ve loved Vampirella since I was a little girl.”
One of Vampirella’s age-old nemeses finally gives up the ghost, and that leads her to his rural Gothic estate of Rookhaven to hear out the last will and testament. Along the way, readers will get to meet the manor’s eclectic staff, from a mysterious groundskeeper and his even more cryptic young daughter, the sinister and enigmatic Mr. Frey, and more.
This thrilling tale is steeped in Gothic horror and taps into timeless tropes. Fans can expect a tone and style similar to the classic Warren magazine era, when artist Jose Gonzalez made his mark and Frank Frazetta could often be found on the covers. The spooky script and Locatelli’s artistic stylings capture the sinister mansion, mist-enshrouded graveyard, witches, ghosts, werewolves, and more sights that fans will love.
Vampirella: Dead Flowers #1 arrives in October 2023.
