Science Ninja Team Gatchaman is headed to your local comic shop in 2024 thanks to a new deal between Mad Cave Studios and Tatsunoko Production.
Science Ninja Team Gatchaman (in the United States of America, we know it is Battle of the Planets) originally appeared in 1972, and centers on five young superhero ninjas employed by the International Science Organization to oppose Galactor, an international terrorist organization who are trying to control Earth’s natural resources.
According to information sent to us from Mad Cave Studios, the upcoming comic book series will take place in the original series world.
“Gatchaman has entertained and influenced fans around the world for over 50 years, and it could not be a better time to introduce their futuristic world to a new generation of readers,” said Kaz Haruna, Tatsunoko Production Director of International Business in a press release. “Tatsunoko is absolutely excited to work with the team at Mad Cave Studios.”
No creative team for the Gatchaman series has been announced, though with Comic-Con happening this week, it would not surprise me if we learn more very soon. Gatchaman #1 is set to arrive in 2024.
