FWIW, I have a VHS copy from 1989 labeled:
“Special Limited Edition full-length video presentation in wide-screen (“Letterbox”) format ENGLISH LAGUAGE VERSION.”
It’s a dub, and on the box it also indicates that it was “licensed for sale throughout the United States and distributed by Streamline Pictures” and gives a PO Box address in W. Hollywood, CA.
I also recall seeing a version of this on the big screen of our campus theater in about 1991, as part of a mini Anime film festival we did, including also Fist of the North Star and Twilight of the Cockroaches.
