Aztec Ace, the time travel adventure series from Doug Moench, is getting a collected edition from Dark Horse Comics and IT’S ALIVE!
First published by Eclipse Comics in 1984, Aztec Ace is an action-packed, intellectual, time-travel adventure starring Caza (AKA Ace) as he travels between the Aztec Empire and his home in the 23rd century. Ace, along with his pupil Bridget Chronopolis and his navigator Head (the floating disembodied head of Sigmund Freud), struggles to save his dimension from time paradoxes created by his enemy, the mysterious Nine-Crocodile.
Aztec Ace: The Complete Collection will include all 15 issues of the initial run, with bonus gallery art, and a bonus short story from Doug Moench and Tim Sale.
Aztec Ace: The Complete Collection arrives on July 20, 2022, and will have a cover price of $79.99.
Warning: Pregnant women, the elderly, and children under 10 should avoid prolonged exposure to the Robot Overlord. Robot Overlord may suddenly accelerate to dangerous speeds. The Robot Overlord contains a liquid core, which if exposed due to rupture, should not be touched, inhaled, or looked at. If Robot Overlord begins to smoke, get away immediately. Seek shelter and cover head. Do not taunt the Robot Overlord.
There is a lot of great comics put out by Eclipse comics that should be republished.

I was on board until I saw that price tag! Hopefully they’ll be able to put it in a less pricey soft cover.

I randomly picked up an issue during a FCBD a few years ago (one of the many spots in my city offers free comics out of their quarter bins as well as the “official” FCBD releases) and had absolutely no idea what was happening. The layouts and art were incredible though. Nearly the entire issue was done in narrow, vertical, page-length panels all the way thru. Great stuff.
80 bucks for the collection…unless there’s a ton of back matter and sketchbook stuff included, i might just knuckle down someday and pick up the rest out of the quarter bins.
