CHRISTOPHER: I enjoyed the first issue of this but I think the tempo was just starting to pick up at the end of the comic. Looking forward to seeing the action ramp up!
ASH & THORN #2

SOLICITATION: Continuing the epic tale of two little old ladies vs. the apocalypse! Now that Lottie has accepted her fate, she has to do what all Champions do: train to stop the demons that threaten to take over the Earth.
MATTHEW: The first issue of this got me hooked, taking Buffy-style adventure and giving us protagonists who aren’t teenagers.
BITTER ROOT #9
Writer: David F. Walker and Chuck Brown
Artist: Sanford Greene
Publisher: Image Comics, Inc.
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: “Rage & Redemption,” Part Four While searching for Adro, the Sangerye family find themselves trapped in a southern town full of jinoo that want them dead. Meanwhile, in New York, Blink faces a horror beyond imagination. Sylvester realizes the true nature of Adro, but will he survive long enough to do anything about it?
INGRID: This amazing horror tale and story of an incredible family continues. Adro’s trail leads the Sangeryes deep into the south where they find themselves stranded in a town entirely full of Jinoo. The lore is rich, the characters are complicated, and the art is stunning. This book is a must-read!
BLACK PANTHER AND THE AGENTS OF WAKANDA #8

MATTHEW: You had me at “Space Dragons”, but this series is probably my favorite Avengers book in years, thanks to the cast and Zub’s expert use of continuity and character.
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: WILLOW #1
Writer: Mariko Tamaki
Artist: Natacha Bustos
Publisher: BOOM! Studios
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: After everything – and everyone – she lost to the Hellmouth, Willow is leaving Sunnydale behind for a new school that promises “to help you prioritize your true self.” But Willow soon learns that all is not as it seems, and if your true self isn’t what the school thinks it should be…well, don’t worry, they’ll help you get there. By any means necessary. Now, truly alone for the first time in her life, Willow must rely only on her instincts – and her magic – to save herself from a different kind of threat than Buffy ever prepared her to face! Award-winning writer Mariko Tamaki (Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me, Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass) and superstar artist Natacha Bustos (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur) bring Willow face to face with the truth of her past… and plant the seeds for a future no one could’ve predicted.
CHRISTOPHER: Seems like a good recipe for a good story. I want to hop onto this fandom and I am praying this is a good jumping point to the extended universe.
EMPYRE: FANTASTIC FOUR #0
Writer: Dan Slott
Artist: R. B. Silva
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $4.99
SOLICITATION: “The Last of the Kree/Skrull Warriors” – a pivotal issue, not just for EMPYRE, but for the future of the FF! In the most unlikely of places, the Fantastic Four witness the final conflict of the Kree/Skrull War… and the fate of these final warriors will mark a stunning change in the lives of Marvel’s First Family for years to come.
MATTHEW: Big crossovers are a tricky business, but the Avengers issue of Empyre excited me about the potential of this one, especially with the rrevelation of where the FF fall in the conflict. It could still be a mess, and I’m not happy about the $4.99 cover price, but I’m interested in seeing where this one goes.
SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #8
Writer: James Tynion IV
Artist: Werther Dell’Edera

SOLICITATION: Erica’s employers, the mysterious Order of St. George, have taken control of Archer’s Peak and sealed it off from the outside world. But can they hope to quarantine the damage caused by the monsters… and Erica Slaughter?
INGRID: This is such a gripping story, horrifying and tightly plotted. What started out as a monster hunt has become more complicated. Not only are there more monsters, but Erica’s organization is not happy with the way she has been doing things. How much more damage will Archer’s Peak suffer before the monsters are gone?
ROGOT OVERLORD: Use your instincts now.
