It also broke yesterday that the movie is likely going to have a runtime of THREE HOURS and fans lost their mind over that too. Personally, I have no problem with a lengthy movie if it’s good and I’m completely engaged. You must know that my favourite film of all time is The Lord of the Rings: the Return of the King: Extended Edition, so that’s the school of viewer I come from.
Where I find myself flummoxed about the long runtime is Avengers: Infinity War clocked in at a full 2 HOURS & 40 MINUTES. What difference is 20 minutes going to make? If you have concerns, please elucidate in the comments section. I will be reading!

With the three trailers we have seen going into Captain Marvel, Brie Larson has only provided the primary voiceover for one (the second trailer), sparking debate about whether or not Marvel Studios believes in Captain Marvel’s commercial viability. Since it’s right around the corner I guess we’ll find out soon!
Sesame Street Turns 50!
The pop culture event of the week that has me the most excited is Sesame Street celebrating its 50th birthday! This show is such a bastion of children’s entertainment and pop culture at large, yet it so often flies under the radar because it is not marketed to the same crowd as the two movies I opened this article with.
Generations of children grew up with Sesame Street as our introduction to The Muppets and, in many cases, as our first introduction to costumed characters. It continues to evolve (recently adding a homeless Muppet to the show), and remain on the cutting edge of socially-relevant entertainment.
If nothing else, I hope this little spot encourages you to rewatch some of the best Sesame Street moments of all time (might I suggest: The Yip Yips?), or that you head on over to whichever HBO streaming service you are subscribed to and watch some of the new episodes.
Arrow Turns 150 (Kinda)
Grandaddy of the contemporary DCTV Universe, Arrow, aired its 150th episode this week. I’m not sure if everyone realizes what a feat it is for a drama to hit this many episodes. I can remember when Stargate SG-1 hit 200 episodes and that felt unheard of. For a genre show – other than Supernatural – to stretch toward such a milestone is truly worth celebrating. The CW celebrated with the metanarrative episode Emerald Archer, an in-universe documentary narrated by Kelsey Grammer (remember when he played Beast?):

In my opinion, this seventh season of Arrow has been very hit or miss, but I am thrilled to inform you, Spoilerite, that this anniversary episode kicked ass!
