I loved this episode so much. It’s a fascinating thing, trying to figure out how to build a reasonably functional and successful society through the medium of a creature that doesn’t understand mortals at all. And it was really enjoyable hearing everyone be as sincere and intellectual about the problem as possible — until a suggestion went against someone’s personal proclivities. Like Sekhar wanting to stay out of the whole thing because it reminds him of noble court… until the suggestion that people in this society might be forced to do things against their will, which annoys him because he wouldn’t stand for it. Or Ket, patiently and neutrally explaining conflicting agendas in a society… until the suggestion that this new society might outlaw gambling.
What a great thought experiment. It made me want to put the same debate into games I’m running, just to see how other PCs would build a city from the ground up.
Oh my God this episode was great. The basic logic robot trying to figure out how to deal with fleshy meat bag people is incredible.
Yeah, these are the moments where Rodrigo’s roleplaying really shines…
For some reason this felt like really oldschool Critical Hit. Really loved this episode.
Meeting and dealing with completely foreign cultures had been a recurring theme. The Exilarchy of Cogs, various Moon people’s like the elves, the vertices.
