IT’S NEW COMIC BOOK DAY! #NCBD
The best day of the week just got a lot better with a new round of awesome comics arriving in stores this week. Staff members at Major Spoilers are here to help you with your comic book selection this week, with their roundup of comics they recommend.
ATOMIC ROBO AND THE SPECTRE OF TOMORROW #3
Writer: Brian Clevinger
Artist: Scott Wegener
Publisher: IDW Publishing
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: So there’s a secret army of cyborg doppelgangers out there and that’s not even the wildest part of this story! Old enemies, new faces, and a little Grand Theft Super Science with a side order of existential dread. Strap yourselves in, we’re gettin’ weird.
STEPHEN: Things get really weird in this series, but that is probably why I like it so much. Is this issue a warning against the dangers of A.I., or is it simply robots fighting robots on a remote island? Why not both?
BATMAN AND THE SIGNAL #1
Writer: Tony Patrick, Scott Snyder
Artist: Cully Hamner
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Batman may own the night, but with new villains emerging during the day, he needs an ally to defend the city when he can’t. Only one teen is up to the challenge; Duke Thomas. After months of training, he’s ready to step out of the shadow of the Bat to become his own kind of hero. Meet Gotham City’s newest protector: the Signal! Spinning out of adventures in ALL-STAR BATMAN and WE ARE ROBIN, comics superstar Scott Snyder and newcomer Tony Patrick take our young hero to new heights in this exciting miniseries with artwork by Cully Hamner.
STEPHEN: Duke finally has a code name, but will Daytime Batman really go over with readers and Gothamites? I’m betting on The Signal this week, and knowing Snyder can weave a great story, I’m sure he and Tony Patrick are going to deliver a treat.
EXIT STAGE LEFT: THE SNAGGLEPUSS CHRONICLES #1
Writer: Mark Russell
Artist: Mike Feehan
Publisher: DC Comics

SOLICITATION: It’s 1953. While the United States is locked in a nuclear arms race with the Soviet Union, the gay Southern playwright known as Snagglepuss is the toast of Broadway. But success has made him a target. As he plans for his next hit play, Snagglepuss becomes the focus of the House Committee on Un-American Activities. And when powerful forces align to purge show business of its most subversive voices, no one is safe!
RODRIGO: Never did I think that I would anticipate a Snagglepuss comic with such excitement. Actually, you can end that last sentence before “With”.
GIANTS #2

Zedo is forced to prove himself as part of a ruthless gang, while Gogi finds himself in the frozen White World ruled by the giant monster Sheik!
RODRIGO: Got a chance to read this early and wow! This has already become one of my favorites. Great art, interesting storyline. Reminiscent of Gurren Lagann and Twelve Monkeys in the best kind of way.
MINKY WOODCOCK GIRL WHO HANDCUFFED HOUDINI #2

SOLICITATION: The fabulous, rabbit-loving Minky Woodcock straps on her gumshoes in order to uncover a magical mystery involving the world-famous escape artist, Harry Houdini. STEPHEN: I was really surprised at how good the first issue of this series was, that Minky Woodcock landed on my pull list immediately after reading. This is part of Titan Comics Hard Case Crime imprint, so it isn’t for everyone, but for those willing to take a trip into the world of magic, investigators, and the death of Houdini, then pick up this issue.

What they discover on this mission will shock them. But will it also bring them closer together…? It’s a high-stakes adventure caper that only the two hottest X-Men can deliver!
RODRIGO: Everyone’s OTP from the tubular 90’s is back! I haven’t read anything with these two characters since forever, so I’m looking forward to this.
THE SHADOW / BATMAN #4
