ACTION COMICS #991
Writer: Dan Jurgens
Artist: Viktor Bogdanovic

SOLICITATION: “THE OZ EFFECT” part five! After being revealed as [REDACTED], Mr. Oz makes his last moves against the Man of Steel and his family and leaves the Man of Tomorrow wondering what other secrets and lies await him in the future as “The Oz Effect” comes to a close.
STEPHEN: I am waiting until today to read this issue, but the preview from DC Comics is… interesting? I want to see where this goes and if this is a permanent continuity change, or if it is part of the larger Doomsday Clock story. So many questions. So many repercussions in the DCU.
WAYNE: This has been really interesting to me, and I can’t help but get more and more excited as we near #1,000!
THE AVENGERS #672
Writer: Mark Waid
Artist: Jesus Saiz
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: Avengers Vs. Champions!!!
MATTHEW: I gotta tellya, a Mike Allred cover may be worth the price of admission. That said, Waid’s Avengers run has been pretty strong, The Champions are cool, and it’s nice to see an issue number above 25.
BATMAN LOST #1
Writer: Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV
Artist: Doug Mahnke, Jaime Mendoza, Yanick Paquette, Jorge Jimenez
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $4.99

WAYNE: New story arc, looking forward to more from the best Flash comics I’ve read in years!
KONG ON PLANET OF THE APES #1
Writer: Ryan Ferrier
Artist: Carlos Magno
Publisher: BOOM! Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: The damn dirty crossover event you demanded! Following the events of the first Planet of the Apes film (1968), Dr. Zaius and General Ursus lead a small group of soldiers to the Forbidden Zone to destroy any remaining evidence of Taylor’s time among them. To their surprise, they discover… A KONG! Now they must venture to Skull Island with Cornelius and Zira to discover the truth, but they may not survive the deadliest journey of their lives!
MATTHEW: Two great things that might taste great together… Worst case scenario, we get a big, loud trainwreck, which won’t hurt my feelings at all. See how Stephen and I rate this one on this week’s Dueling Review!
STEPHEN: Just when you thought the Planet of the Apes franchise couldn’t find anyone else to crossover with (Back to the Future?), we get Kong on Planet of the Apes. I hope for great things with this mini-series, and I hope it features an appearance by Taylor.
WB DUBAYS THE ROOK ARCHIVES HC VOL 03
Writer: William B. DuBay, Budd Lewis
Artist: Lee Bermejo
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Cover Price: $19.99
SOLICITATION: He is Restin Dane, a.k.a. the Rook-adventurer, inventor . . . and Master of Time! Crossing the ages in his chess piece-shaped Time Castle-aided by his gunfighter grandfather and a squad of eccentric robots-the Rook races from the Wild West to mythic kingdoms to unthinkable futures to put a few things right! Collects The Rook stories from Eerie #99-#105.
MATTHEW: The Warren Publishing books were strange, adult offerings in my youth, seldom found but always intriguing, and The Rook is one of the most stylish (if somewhat convoluted, in all the best ways) of those books. If nothing else, he’s a time-traveling sorta-kinda cowboy, how can that go wrong?
