Dynamite Entertainment has struck a deal with Bandai Namco Entertainment for a Tekken art book that explores the history of the popular video game.
Since its original release in 1994, TEKKEN – one of the first games at the time to incorporate 3D animation – garnered a worldwide following and spawned multiple sequels and spin-offs. Structured around the fictional King of Iron Fist Tournament as sponsored by the Mishima Zaibatsu corporation, TEKKEN tells the story of the Mishima ancestral curse, pitting the series protagonist Jin Kazama against members of his villainous lineage, while incorporating the colorful stories and aspirations of a wide cast of additional fighters.
The new TEKKEN retrospective from Dynamite Entertainment will feature in-depth interviews and exclusive, behind-the-scenes looks into the making of the games, as well as the iconic art, design, and imagery from across the TEKKEN universe. Oversized and hundreds of pages in length, printed on high-quality glossy paper to perfectly capture the vibrant colors of high-res photographs and scans, this commemorative collectible makes the perfect coffee table book or addition to a hardcore gamer’s bookshelves.
“TEKKEN 3 is the one that got its hooks into me… when I really started appreciating how fun and brilliant of a fighting game series it was, with its own personality and crazy-awesome cast of characters,” said Rich Young, Director of Business Development for Dynamite. “We’re now at TEKKEN 7 and the franchise is still going as strong as ever! It’s an honor to be working with BANDAI NAMCO on this project, and to present this amazing retrospective to the dedicated and passionate fans worldwide!”
The Tekken art book is slated for release in 2018.
