Someone who has more time on their hands than I do, will quickly discover appearances in specific issues may not actually add up to the current numbering system*, but… whatever. If Marvel wants to release a new Spider-Man issue with #1000 on it to one up DC then so be it. As long as the publisher continues with the numbering going forward (no laughing, please), then everyone will be happy. And hey, look! Tony Stark is coming back!
*Iron Man appeared in Tales of Suspense from issues #39-99 beginning in 1963, but according to the chart above, those initial appearance never happened, even though Tales of Suspense changed its name to Tales of Suspense featuring The Power of Iron Man years before the first Iron Man issue arrived on store shelves in 1968. I can kind of understand where Marvel is coming from on this, but still…
