Valiant Entertainment has gotten a bit of flack from comic book stores this week over the top of the upcoming Faith #5. The issue features Hillary Clinton on the cover, and with no Trump tale in sight, many comic book stores are not stocking the issue on shelves.
to compound the problem with retailers, the issue comes out days before the election on November 2nd, and some feel the cover and subject matter is a political ad that will cause many customers to turn away from the LCS.

Valiant is proud to present your first look inside FAITH #5 – a 48-page election special colliding Faith “Zephyr” Herbert with the first female presidential nominee from a major political party, Hillary Clinton, for a history-making adventure torn from the headlines!
Faith Herbert, star of the highest selling independent superhero debut of 2016, is a shining beacon of optimism in a challenging world. Her day job as a blogger and journalist is about to bring Faith face to face with Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton…but its her daring alter ego as Los Angeles’ leading superhero that will have to save the day when a new threat emerges to imperil a pivotal moment that has all of America watching!
You’ve had a chance to read a few pages and you’ve seen the cover. Is this something that turns you off as a comic book reader? Should retailers be concerned?

It makes sense to me that Faith as a character would gravitate toward Clinton as her candidate of choice, so no it does not bother me.
Retailers altering their orders for this title, either ordering more or less than they would otherwise have done, are being more political about it than the publisher.
Additionally, I used to work in a LCS that had a distinctly Libertarian bent, and I can tell you that the customers are more than capable of ignoring the politics in the store if they want to.
I wish we had the ability to add Thumbs Up to comments ’cause you would totally get one :)
