We’ve asked the question multiple times. We’ve speculated what was going on. We’ve been told, “New is coming soon.” Today, we finally get to rejoice that the Archie Horror titles, Afterlife with Archie and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are returning this summer!
The New York Times broke the story this morning via its Vulture blog, where we learned that the Archie television series being developed for The CW took a lot of Archie’s Chief Creative Officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. If you have been paying close attention to the credits of Supergirl, you’ve seen the writers name pop up there, so the Archie TV series is probably not the only thing taking him away from the horror line.
There’s no excuse for late books, just apologies. It’s been a humbling — and busy — few months. I’ve been working on our soon-to-be filmed television pilot Riverdale, which will bring our favorite characters to life for the first time in … decades, maybe? Again, that’s not an excuse, just something that’s been taking up a lot of time and energy. But … we’re back! And, as always, Francesco Francavilla and Robert Hack are doing the work of their careers. We know how much these books mean to you — so thank you, thank you, thank you for sticking with us through thick and thin. You’re the best fans in the world, is the truth, and hopefully we can serve you on a more consistent schedule over the next few months.
At least Archie and Aquirre-Sacasa aren’t making lame excuses for the delay, which does take a bit of the edge off not having these two books since May of last year.
According to Archie Comics, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will return on May 18th, with Afterlife with Archie landing in stores on June 1st.
With the May solicitations arriving this week, we’ll find out more about what we can expect when Sabrina returns, and in the meantime, here are some images from the upcoming issues.
Are you back on board after this announcement, or have you been burned by the lack of updates and news, that you’ve turned your back on Sabrina and the zombies of Riverdale?

I’ll believe it when I see it.
