Press Release
This weekend, downtown Fort Wayne becomes a mecca for local, regional, and national comic artists, writers, and fans. Join us Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17, at the Grand Wayne Convention Center to be part of the magic!
Meet spotlight guest artist Jaime Hernandez, an award-winning artist famous for Love and Rockets. Rub elbows with major talent like Hilary Barta, Dave Wachter, and Christopher Mitten. Check out regional artists Andy Jewett, Scott Bachmann, Tressa Bowling, and Kyle Latino. Catch up with local favorites like the guys behind Black Rose comic, Caanan White of Über and Max Brooks’ Harlem Hellfighters, Matt Gross, Andrew Fraser, Allen Etter, and more. Seriously, we could go on and on about the wealth of amazing artists lined up for this year’s comic con.
Some of the artists will also participate in panel discussions, scheduled for both days of the convention. Topics include gender and comics, costuming, comic and toy collecting, themes in Jack Kirby’s work, the secrets of drawing comics, as well as a spotlight panel on Jaime Hernandez.
Between the plethora of unique stories out there and Hollywood’s cinematic retellings, there has never been a better time to get into comics! Make Appleseed Comics and Art Convention part of your weekend plans: Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for a day pass, $15 for a weekend pass, and free for children 12 and under.
