IT’S NEW COMIC BOOK DAY!
But what to read?
Fortunately, the Major Spoilers Staff have comic book recommendations for you!
AXIS HOBGOBLIN #3
Writer: Kevin Shinick
Artist: Javier Rodriguez
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: It’s KNIGHT to KINGsley as Phil Urich makes his final move to get rid of the original HOBGOBLIN. But can Kingsley stick to his new altruistic persona, or will he resort to his old wicked ways to reign supreme? The answers can be found in this exciting final chapter and in Kingsley’s new book, “How I Learned To Stick To My Altruistic Persona But Lost Millions By Revealing The Outcome In The Title Of My Book.”
ROB: Most of the AXIS tie-ins have been at least interesting, but I think this has been the most enjoyable to me, seeing a reversal of the ‘Goblins original attitudes and the like. Besides, the side story has bee rather satisfying, seeing what happened to Menace and all.
BATMAN #37
Writer: Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV
Artist: Greg Capullo, Danny Miki

SOLICITATION: The ultra top-secret Batman arc known only as “Endgame” continues – it’s a story arc so steeped in mystery that all we can tell you is the title!
WAYNE: Look, Snyder and Capullo telling a Batman/Joker story. What else do you need? Personally, I’ll be there with bated breath!
BATMAN: ETERNAL #37

Artist: Andrea Mutti
Publisher: DC Comics
Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: Only Catwoman can help Batman now, but Catwoman is long gone! In her place? A woman more ruthless than Batman ever expected … .
WAYNE: I am going to be SO sorry when this year-long weekly title comes to a conclusion. Have an excellent Batman title to look forward to each and every week has been extremely habit-forming, not to put the other “family” titles down. This one has had me gripped from the very first one!
BORDERLANDS FALL OF FYRESTONE #5
Writer: Mike Neumann
Artist: Agustin Padilla
Publisher: IDW Publishing
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: The Vault Hunters have narrowly escaped Nine Toes and find themselves lost and unable to find the fabled “Vault.” Enter Patricia Tannis-a brilliant scientist who’s struggling to cling to reality… and who is the Hunters’ only hope of reaching the Vault. But can they trust her? Return to Pandora in this all-new, action-packed arc!
ROB: The first arc in the Borderlands ongoing is over, and now we get to see the craziest character, Tannis. Having the head of the series tell the canonical story of what happened during the first game has been great so far, and I certainly look forward to more.

STEPHEN: Multiversity is the mind trip we need to make sense of what is going on at DC Comics and the New 52, and hopefully it is giving us a look at what is to come as the company moves west.
WAYNE: Multiversity has been a long time coming, but it is more than proving itself worth the wait! What will happen next? I gotta know!
RUMBLE #1
Writer: John Arcudi
Artist: James Harren
Publisher: Image Comics
Cover Price: $3.50
SOLICITATION: Okay, so a scarecrow walks into a bar…and proceeds to wreak havoc across two worlds! After a long absence, Rathraq, Scarecrow Warrior God, is back-and very unhappy. Bad news for his old enemies, yes, but worse news for everybody else! JOHN ARCUDI and JAMES HARREN bring you a modern day action/adventure fantasy thriller where rundown dive bars, undead kitty cats, psycho skinheads, and giant mummies all play a part. It’s Louis C.K. meets Robert E. Howard in a David Fincher universe.
GEORGE: The idea of a scarecrow warrior god is fantastic all on its own, but the two creators behind this project have me very interested. Arcudi and Harren have both done tremendous work in the pages of B.P.R.D., and this new series sounds like it will play to their strengths.
SCARLET SPIDERS #2
Writer: Michael Costa
Artist: Paco Diaz
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
SOLICITATION: SPIDER-VERSE MARCHES ON!
• As the Scarlet Spiders find themselves even deeper in Jennix’s twisted realm, what friends or foes will they find waiting for them?
• A classic Spider-Man ally makes an appearance, but not in the way you expect… and the Scarlet Spiders might not survive the experience!
ROB: Putting the trio of clones together has worked quite well to make this my favorite of the Spider-verse tie-ins. The fact that each has been my favorite character at one time or another is an added plus in their favor.
THE WICKED + THE DIVINE #6
Writer: Kieron Gillen
Artist: Jamie McKelvie
Publisher: Image Comics
Cover Price: $3.50
SOLICITATION: THE FAUST ACT is over. Welcome to FANDEMONIUM.
The second arc of THE WICKED + THE DIVINE begins in its traditional manner (i.e. a ludicrous pun.) We’d say something like “nothing will ever be the same again” but if you think about it, you can say that about literally everything, ever. Er…also some comic story. Probably.
GEORGE: The first arc resolved in a satisfying way, but still raised a lot of questions. This exploration of youth, fame and pop music continues to be as bubbly and exciting as a finely-crafted Top 40 hit.
WYTCHES #3
Writer: Scott Snyder
Artist: Jock
Publisher: Image Comics
Cover Price: $2.99
SOLICITATION: A parent’s worst nightmare: a beloved child lost in the woods. Behind the trees lurk horrors, and the brush conceals atrocity. No matter how desperate the search, understand that your prayers will fall on deaf ears. There is no escape from the Wytches.
GEORGE: One of the creepiest, moodiest, best-looking horror comics I’ve seen in awhile. Wytches #2 built on the first issue, which I felt was one of the best comics of 2014.
