Even though the CW’s pilot episode of The Flash leaked online almost a month ago, San Diego Comic Con aired the episode today before their second comics-based show, iZombie, was slated to make it’s debut. In the end iZombie was a no show stating “cast changes” ominously – a similar fate which has befallen NBC’s Constantine given the early fan reaction to their own leaked pilot.
The (overwhelmingly female), crowd’s reaction has been almost unanimously positive to Grant Gustin’s scarlet speedster as he races across the small screen beneath the eyes of John Wesley Shipp who plays Barry’s wrongly convicted father. Though this version of Barry Allen borrows heavily from both Wally West and BBC’s Sherlock Gustin is still very recognizable as the clumsy, ever-late Barry. The Flash takes a decidedly lighter tone than the CW’s flagship comic book show Arrow (whose leading man may or may not appear in this very episode), in the wake of Barry’s astonishing metahuman ability.
The supporting cast of the Flash has some standout performances including Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh), and especially Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), whose performances promise to shape the coming season nicely.
The villain of the Flash will surely be familiar to long-time Barry Allen fans and the episode’s final shot reveals many DC-centric Easter Eggs about what show-runners have in mind for the Flash. With this second pilot being so well received rumours are already flying about which property will make it to the small screen next.
You check out the Flash on the CW Tuesday, October 7th, 2014.

They got the Flash from the CBS show to be in this one?? That’s awesome. I loved that show, back in the day.
