During E3 this year, EA announced that DICE would be working on Star Wars: Battlefront III and released a small teaser. At the time there was zero reference as to when the game would arrive other than it being set for next-gen consoles. Earlier today news of an official release date hit the internet.
In a stockholders conference call yesterday, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed a possible release date for DICE’s upcoming next-gen Star Wars: Battlefront reboot.
“We have partnered with Walt Disney and LucasFilm to develop a whole new generation of Star Wars games for the console as well as for mobile and handheld devices. he first game that we’re focused on is Battlefront. It’s a traditional game that’s done extremely well and this will most likely come out around the same time as the Star Wars movies start to come out, probably in the summer of ’15.”
While it’s nothing more than a generality, it does pose some questions about what the game will be. Is it it a tie in to Episode VII, a sequel to the last two games, or something else entirely? Let us know your thoughts.

Im still not a fan of EA getting the video game rights to Star Wars but if anyone can make a fantastic Battlefront game, its DICE.
