Mignola released this statement about the coming Artist’s Edition:
Since the beginning, I’ve been pretty much in awe of the Artist’s Edition series IDW has been doing. I’m thrilled (and actually a little honored) to have a Hellboy book appear in that series.
Artist’s Edition editor Scott Dunbier said this about Mignola bringing his work to IDW:
I can’t thank Mike enough for allowing us to do this book. His stories are classics and it’s a joy to be able to pour over his art.
Since Hellboy started being published by Dark Horse Comics the series has created several spin-offs in the form of B.P.R.D., Abe Sapian, and Lobster Johnson, all of which are published by Dark Horse. The series has also been adapted into film form by director Guillermo del Toro.
Neither Mignola nor IDW have stated when the collected volume will be released or how much it will cost.
