Over the years SDCC has evolved from a comic focused event to and event for all of nerd and pop culture. For me, one of the more entertaining things to come of this has been the larger and larger presence for Magic: the Gathering, my favorite game. The big Magic panel at SDCC has become the moment where the large Fall set truly begins, and that’s not the only thing happening this year. So take the jump to see what all will be happening in the Magic world for SDCC.
Of course there is the big panel on Saturday.
Magic: The Gathering is ready to excite fans with a preview of some of the new products and events that are coming up this summer and beyond at the Magic R&D Panel! Join Mark Purvis (Brand Director), Mark Rosewater (Magic’s Head Designer), Jenna Helland (Magic Creative Designer), and Dave Guskin (Magic Experience Designer) for this discussion and Q&A on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 12pm-1pm in Room 25ABC.
That is where the best information will be coming from, and you can be certain we will put that up as quickly as we can find it. But that’s not the only thing happening. Geek & Sundry has recently announced that Magic: the Gathering is one of the sponsors for the Geek & Sundry Community Party happening Friday, July 19 at 8 pm. There is also a livestreaming event going on Saturday, July 20 at 3 pm where we can watch different celebrities play our favorite game. Both events will be taking place at Jolt’n Joes in the Gaslamp Quarter.
For those lucky enough to attend SDCC, visit the Magic gaming hall at the Marriott Marquis in Marina Ballrooms E&F on Thursday, July 18 to Saturday, July 20 from 10am to 11pm, and on Sunday, July 21 from 10am to 5pm.
Lastly, there will also be a limited-edition box set for sale at the Hasbro Toy Shop (Booth #3329) for $65 (tax included). After SDCC, a limited number will be put up for sale on the Hasbro Toy Shop website for $59.99 plus tax.
All in all it sounds like a blast for those there and we here at home can at least join in some of the fun over the internet.
