Press Release
Andrews McMeel Universal (AMU) brands GoComics and Andrews McMeel Publishing return to the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2013 for the tenth consecutive year to share entertaining and thought-provoking comic strips, book collections, autographed prints and special promotional items for the guests of the world’s premiere pop culture convention.
Representing the world’s largest collection of syndicated and webcomics along with one of the world’s leading humor publishers, the enlarged exhibit space will feature new and upcoming book releases, including comic book writer/historian Matthew Manning’s The Superman Files, which provides an in-depth analysis on the world’s most famous Kryptonian. Cartoonists including Bill Amend (FoxTrot, celebrating its 25th anniversary), and New York Times and Amazon best-selling authors Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate) and The Oatmeal (Matthew Inman) are also scheduled for free, one-hour signing sessions.
Andrews McMeel’s and GoComics’ Twitter accounts (@AndrewsMcMeel, @GoComics) will play an important role in SDCC outreach this year. Using the hashtags “#GoComics and/or #AndrewsMcMeel”, the teams will send real-time updates through this outlet to share the location of a street team that will provide more than 200 daily giveaways of comics and comic-related items throughout the convention.
Comic-Con attendees are encouraged to share via social media message information about Andrews McMeel Publishing’s releases or their favorite GoComics comics. When users visit the booth and show their message, they will receive a free three-month subscription for a GoComics.com PRO account, which allows users to get an unlimited amount of comics emailed to them daily and an ad-free experience on the new GoComics mobile/tablet app.
