Press Release
Executive producers and creators of the highly-anticipated Steampunk-themed television series, Lantern City, have teamed up with Section Studios artists and Bluecanvas publishers to release the epic beginning of the saga, titled “RISE: A Lantern City Illustrated Novel,” on July 19, 2013.
Veteran actor and producer Bruce Boxleitner (TRON, Babylon 5), Emmy award-winning producer Trevor Crafts, and television series writer and author Matthew James Daley have recently garnered attention within the Steampunk, science fiction, fantasy and adventure communities for their newly fan-inspired television series, Lantern City, which is currently in development.
“RISE” is a collaboration between Daley and the artists at Section Studios. The illustrated novel will be sold in retail and online stores beginning July 19, and will be available for purchase at Comic-Con International: San Diego from Friday, July 19 through Saturday, July 20. Pre-sale is available now for $29.95, plus shipping and handling, at www.lanterncitytv.com/rise.
“During the development of Lantern City, we’ve wanted to give our fans a way to learn more about the story behind the series before it’s broadcasted on television,” stated Trevor Crafts, co-creator and executive producer of Lantern City. “Matt, Bruce and I, with the brilliant minds at Section Studios, decided to create Lantern City’s first illustrated novel to tell the beginning of the story … and ‘RISE’ was born.”
“RISE” tells the story of Isaac Foster Grey, the first leader of Lantern City. Isaac battles through misfortune with a burning vengeance against his father’s killer and that man’s plan for domination over every citizen in the land of Hetra. “RISE” is a journey through a fantastic world of myth, mystery, violence, and epic circumstance that challenges the definitions of good and evil.
At San Diego’s Comic-Con, the creators will appear on the “Secrets of Sci-Fi Writing and Science Fiction/Fantasy” panel on Thursday, July 18 at 11 a.m. in Room 32AB. Crafts will also appear with Lantern City collaborator Thomas Willeford on the “Steampunk as a Super Culture” panel on Friday, July 19 at 5 p.m. in Room 29A. Exclusive “RISE” and Lantern City merchandise will be given away at the event. “RISE” will be sold on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20 on the Exhibit Floor at the Section Studios and Brute Force Studios booths, with special appearances and signings by the creators, writer and artists.
