Nintendo is on a roll with all the announcements coming out of Nintendo Direct and E3. This time we get to see the next iteration of another classic Nintendo franchise, Mario Kart. Take the jump for the trailer.

It looks like Nintendo is bringing some of the bigger innovations from Mario Kart Wii (bikes and tricks) and Mario Kart 7 (gliders) over for the series jump to HD. And then the new gimmick, anti-gravity roads, riding on walls and ceilings. I’m not sure how exactly this will be implemented, but I am certain I want it. With no release date announced (not even a year) though, it may be awhile before we get to ride with Mario and friends again.

It’s really hard to not be cynical towards Nintendo when their big announcements so far are sequels to their “if it’s not broke” series’. Don’t get me wrong, I think Nintendo slays their first party titles. But it’s hard to get excited for games that I can essentially play on my 10+ year old N64.
